Most of the Unites States moves clocks back one hour in early November. In 2026, daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 1 at 2:00 a.m. local time.

What changes:

  • You get an extra hour of sleep that night
  • Sunrise and sunset come an hour earlier
  • Evenings get dark earlier, often before 5 p.m. in northern states
  • Phones update automatically; some car and oven clocks don’t

Places that don’t switch:

Hawaii and most of Arizona stay on standard time all year, as do Puerto Rico and other US territories.

If your home country doesn’t change clocks, or changes on a different date, your time difference may shift by an hour for a few weeks.
